“Hello, darkness, my old friend…”
Don’t you just find the sound of silence beautiful?
I do.
Except, of course, when I’m watching from my Westinghouse TV.
Because come on!
It’s impossible to enjoy any show without audio.
It’s a good thing that fixing it only takes a few minutes.

Why does my Westinghouse TV have no sound?
Your Westinghouse TV has no sound because it’s likely on mute. Also, your audio setting may be incorrect, with your TV speaker likely turned off. If you’re using an external device, the cable connected to your TV is possibly damaged. And in some cases, the audio issue may be due to an OS glitch.
Westinghouse TV no sound: 9 ways to fix it
#1: Check if your TV’s on mute
I have a friend that works as tech support for a major TV manufacturer. She speaks with plenty of customers daily.
Yet, according to her, the solutions for most of their problems are very simple.
So simple, in fact, that a tech support call shouldn’t have been necessary.
For instance, many of the audio issues she handled were simply due to the TV being on mute.
So why am I sharing this?
Because that may very well be the case with your Westinghouse TV.
So try to adjust the volume. Turn it up if you can.
You’d be surprised at how often this simple act turns out to be the correct solution.
Even in other brands. Like LG TVs or Sony TVs that have no sound.
Now, most Westinghouse TVs these days have a Roku OS.
They also use a Roku remote. And you can find the volume on the remote’s right side.
“What if my remote isn’t working?”
Not a problem. Some Westinghouse TVs have a built-in volume button. You may find it either at the right edge. Or at the back of the TV.
And if your TV doesn’t have those buttons…
You may simply download the Roku remote app on your phone. It’s available on iOS and Android.
So here’s how to pair the Roku remote app with your Westinghouse TV:
- Ensure that your phone and Westinghouse TV are using the same WiFi.
- Open the Roku remote app on your phone.
- Allow the app to search for your TV.
- Click your Westinghouse TV once it appears on the app.
That’s it. Just click the Remote icon on the app. And you may now adjust your TV’s volume.

Then watch this video below. The TV on the video’s actually a TCL.
But it works exactly the same with Westinghouse TV since they both have the Roku OS:
#2: Ensure that your audio setting is correct
After checking the TV’s volume, you should also verify if the audio settings are correct.
What do I mean by that?
If you’re not using any external devices…
Then you should select the TV speaker as the audio source.
And if you’re using one, then you should select that device instead.
These are the steps to check your Westinghouse TV’s audio setting:
Step #1: Click the remote’s Home button.
Step #2: Scroll down to Settings and click it.
Step #3: Select Audio.
Step #4: Highlight Speakers.
Step #5: Select the TV Speakers option if you have no external audio device. Otherwise, select that device.
#3: Perform a power cycle on your TV
Sometimes, even with your settings correct…
You may still experience audio problems due to a software glitch.
But this type of malfunction’s usually temporary. And you can quickly resolve that by power cycling your TV.
Power cycling means a reboot or restart of your device.
And with Westinghouse TVs, the fastest way to do it is by unplugging.
Simply disconnect your TV from its power source.
You may also want to press the TV’s power button for about 10 seconds after unplugging. This helps drain any residual charge from the TV.
And then, after about a minute or 2, plug the TV back into the outlet.
As an alternative, you may also restart your Westinghouse TV via the Settings menu:
- Press the TV’s Home button.
- Select Settings.
- Select System.
- Click Power.
- Click the System restart option.
#4: Make sure your external audio device is on
Your Westinghouse TV’s built-in speakers are actually good enough, quality-wise.
However, I understand many also opt to use external audio devices. Such as:
Do you also happen to be using any of those?
If so, ensure that your device is on. See to it that there are no defects. And that it’s working as it should.
Also, check if you’ve properly connected it to the power source.
And if it’s battery-operated, ensure that the batteries are working.
Moreover, check your device’s settings. As well as the volume.
You may also try to power cycle your audio device. Just power it off and then on.
#5: Check for any loose cable connections
Still on the topic of external audio devices…
Most of them connect to the Westinghouse TV via HDMI cables.
And these cables are responsible for transmitting video and audio.
So ensure that you connect these cables firmly to your TV’s port.
You may also try to reseat the cable by detaching and reattaching it.
Now, it’s also possible that the port you’re using is defective.
Good thing Westinghouse TVs have multiple HDMI ports. So you may try to use those other ones.
In addition, see to it that your HDMI cable’s actually working properly. You may try to use it with your other devices, like a laptop.
And replace the cable if you find any damage.
#6: Reset your TV’s audio settings
Here’s another possibility…
You or someone may have tried calibrating some of the TV’s various audio settings. Or an app that you installed made changes to them. Without you noticing.
And the end result is your TV losing its audio.
Rather than try to figure out which audio settings are causing the problem…
You may as well reset them to their factory default values.
With Westinghouse TVs, it’s easy to do.
Just follow these steps to reset the audio settings:
- From the home screen, select Settings.
- Select System.
- Select Advanced system settings.
- Highlight Factory reset.
- Press the remote’s right arrow button.
- Select Reset TV audio/picture settings.
- Press the remote’s Play button 3 times.
#7: Restart your TV’s WiFi connection
“Wait, can the TV’s internet connection actually affect the audio?”
Rarely. But yes, it does happen sometimes.
A poor or unstable WiFi connection may affect your TV’s video and audio quality.
That’s why resetting your Westinghouse TV’s WiFi connection can also help.
You may do that by disconnecting the router and modem from the outlet. And then reconnecting them after about half a minute.
Then wait until your TV reconnects to the WiFi.
And check if you still can’t get any sound from all channels.
#8: Update your Westinghouse TV’s firmware
Installing updates for your Westinghouse TV’s OS can help fix the audio.
This is because a software bug can also cause sound problems. And you can only resolve that by installing a fresh batch of software updates.
Note: Ensure that your TV has a stable WiFi connection before checking for updates. Or else it won’t be able to download those updates properly.
Here are the steps to manually update your Westinghouse TV’s OS:
- Press the remote’s Home button.
- Go to Settings.
- Click System.
- Click System Update.
- Select the Check now option.
If your TV detects available updates, it’ll download and install them automatically.
#9: Factory reset your TV
If none of the other fixes work…
Then consider doing a factory reset.
A complete factory reset will do the following to your TV:
- Delete all your 3rd party apps.
- Unlink your OS account from the TV.
- Remove all your personal settings and preferences.
So weigh your options carefully. And proceed with caution.
The following are the steps to factory reset a Westinghouse TV:
- Click your TV remote’s Home button.
- Select Settings.
- Click the Advanced system settings option.
- Select Factory reset.
- Select Factory reset everything.
