#1: Wait
You first need to check if Ring is down for everyone, not just you.
And this information is available on Ring’s official website. Alternatively, you can also use 3rd party down detectors to be extra sure.
Now, what can you do if it’s really down?
Simply wait. Their server problems should be over instantly most time.
#2: Your Android phone doesn’t meet the minimum requirements
Next, there’s also a chance that Ring isn’t working on your phone…
Because your smartphone doesn’t meet the minimum requirements of the app.
You see, Ring only works on Android 9 (Pie) or higher.
Furthermore, this app also doesn’t work on the following phones:
- Huawei P40.
- Huawei Honor.
- Huawei P40 Pro.
- Huawei Mate 30.
- Huawei Mate Xs.
- All Vivo smartphones.
- All OPPO smartphones.
App permissions are also a part of Ring’s requirements. These permissions are:

Now, here’s what you need to do to enable the permissions:
- Go to the Settings app on your phone.
- Press Apps.

Let me tell you this:
That wasn’t magic. That was simple science.
You see, charges from any energy source give power to your electronics.
Sometimes, your device can randomly get residual or excess charge. This can then cause all manner of glitches on your device.
And the fix for this is a restart.
More specifically, a power cycle. This is a type of restart designed to get rid of all excess charges on any device.
And it’s quite easy too. Power cycle your phone with these directions:
- Long press the Power button on your phone.
- Wait until a Power Off option appears or something similar.
- Press the button.
- Standby for 30 seconds to 1 minute before turning it on again.
#4: Ensure that you have a good internet connection
The purpose of the Ring app is to look at the cameras around your home. With this, you can look at real-time footage or rewind to earlier scenes.
This means you’ll need a fast internet connection to enjoy these features.
How fast?
Ring recommends at least 2.0 Mbps.
Now, check your network speed using this website.
If your internet falls below 2.0 Mbps, here’s what you can do to improve it:
- Move your router and Android phone closer.
- Remove Wi-Fi signal obstructions, like steel, water, and glass.
- Ensure that there are no other signal-emitting objects near your router.
