Why are my LG smart TV apps not working?
Your LG Smart TV apps aren’t working because you have issues with your Internet speed. Or your apps or software aren’t updated. Moreover, it might be due to your TV reaching maximum storage capacity.
LG smart TV apps not working: 9 causes & fixes
#1: You have a poor Internet connection
Slow Internet connection is the most common cause of sluggish LG smart TV apps.
So if your Wi-Fi network has poor Internet speed…
Then, your TV might not connect to your Wi-Fi.
When that happens, you might want to check out these quick fixes below.
To troubleshoot your Internet connection problems:
Restart your modem or router
You can restart your Wi-Fi with these steps:
- Unplug your modem or router from its power source.
- Leave it unplugged for 30 seconds.
- Plug it back.
Increase your TV’s Internet speed

Check your TV’s signal strength. You want it to be as high as possible.
Normally, your Internet package comes with a specific bandwidth.

Bear in mind that streaming platforms such as Netflix need an Internet speed of at least 5 Mbps.

So you want to speed up your Internet connection by doing any of the following:
- Using an ethernet cable.
- Moving your Wi-Fi closer to your TV.
- Disconnecting other devices from your Wi-Fi.
Check and update your TV’s DNS server manually
LG recommends your smart TV connect to DNS server 8.8.8.8.
But what does a DNS server do?
A DNS Server helps you reach websites with your IP address.
If your TV’s DNS server isn’t compatible with your IP address:
- Your TV would keep disconnecting from your Wi-Fi.
- It would prevent you from installing and using your apps.
To check your smart TV’s DNS server:
Step 1: Press the Home/Smart button on your remote.
Step 2: Select Settings in the upper right corner.
Step 3: Look for All Settings at the bottom right corner, then select.
Step 4: Navigate the menu on the left, then select Network.
Step 5: Choose Wi-Fi Connection.
Step 6: Select Advanced Wi-Fi Settings.
Step 7: Check DNS Server if connected to 8.8.8.8.
Step 8: If your DNS server is not connected to 8.8.8.8.
- On the Advanced Wi-Fi Settings screen, click Edit.
- Enter DNS Server with 8.8.8.8.
- Click Connect.

#2: You need to restart your TV
Your LG Smart TV is smart because it allows you to browse and watch on its apps.
But, using it with several apps opened would slow down your TV.
When this happens, you might want to restart or reboot your TV.
To reboot your LG smart TV:
- Press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys on your remote for 12 seconds.
- Release the keys.

#5: Your TV isn’t updated

Does your Smart TV still lag even if you’ve already updated your apps?
You might want to check your TV’s software to see if it has pending updates.
Software updates keep you updated with the newest features and content.
To update your LG smart TV’s software:
- Press the Home/Smart button on your remote.
- Select Settings found in the upper right corner.
- Look for All Settings in the bottom right corner, then select.
- Navigate the menu on the left, then select General.
- Select About This TV.
- Click Check for Updates.
- If an update is available, select Download and Install.

To update your LG smart TV’s date and time settings:
- Press the Home/Smart button on your remote.
- Select Settings found in the upper right corner.
- Look for All Settings in the bottom right corner, then select.
- Navigate the menu on the left, then select General.
- Select Time & Date.
- Check your Time Zone. If correct, proceed to Step 8. If not, go to Step 7.
- Uncheck Set Automatically, then find your current time zone.
- To set the current date and time automatically, check Set Automatically.
Your TV’s date and time will be set based on your location’s standard time.
#7: Your audio isn’t in sync with your video
Have you noticed your smart TV’s audio delay while watching? Or worse, no sound?
It’ll be annoying watching your favorite movie as the dialogue delays.

To check your TV’s sound system:

Check your audio if it delays as your video moves forward.
#8: Your TV has insufficient memory space
