How to play SoundCloud on Sonos? 3 simple steps
Step #1: Install the SoundCloud app
SoundCloud is one of the most social music platforms out there.
To make use of it, you can install their app on your phone (Android or iOS) or PC.
When you’re done, you can create an account with your e-mail.
Note: You don’t need a paid SoundCloud subscription plan to play music on your Sonos device. You can just use a free account.

Step#2: Install the Sonos app
Sonos is an excellent wireless sound system, and they have many different speakers.
As with many things nowadays, they created an app.
So if you haven’t done this yet, install the Sonos app (Android or iOS).
When done, you can create an account with your e-mail.
Step #3: Add SoundCloud to Sonos
Next, you’ll need to link SoundCloud to Sonos.
That way, it will recognize SoundCloud so it can play the music via the Sonos app to the speaker.
Android or iOS
Here’s how to add SoundCloud to Sonos on Android and iOS in 7 easy steps:
- Open the Sonos app.
- Select Settings (gear icon).
- Go to Services & Voice.
- Select Add a Service.
- Search for Soundcloud and tap on it.
- Then tap on Add to Sonos.
- Follow the given instructions to complete.
Done!
You can now play, add, or remove music from SoundCloud via the Sonos app!
Windows or Mac
To play Soundcloud music on your Sonos with Windows or Mac, it goes slightly differently.
But no worries, I got your back.
Here’s how to add SoundCloud to the Sonos app on Mac or Windows in 5 easy steps:
- Open the Sonos app on your computer.
- Go to Select a Music Source.
- Click on Add Music Services.
- Select SoundCloud.

AirPlay
It’s all fun and game with those 2 separate apps, but there is another way.
You can play SoundCloud music without the Sonos app.
Namely, through Apple devices that have AirPlay.
This makes it possible to stream audio and video content…
Straight to devices that also have Airplay.
So, maybe you’re wondering…
“Does my Sonos speaker have Airplay too?”
Well, here’s a list of Sonos products that are compatible with AirPlay:
- Arc.
- Ray.
- One.
- Five.
- Port.
- Amp.
- Move.
- Roam.
- Beam.
- Arc SL.
- One SL.
- Roam SL.
- Playbase.
- Beam (Generation 2).
- Play:5 (Generation 2).
- All SYMFONISK speakers.
Now, if you have one of the listed Sonos devices then it’s easy.
Just take these 6 steps on your Apple device:
- Open the SoundCloud app.
- Play a song.
- Swipe up to see the control center.
- Tap and hold down the audio card where it shows which song is playing.
- Select the AirPlay icon (a rectangular TV screen with a triangle at the bottom pointing up)
- Choose which Sonos speaker you’d like to connect to.
And voila!
Chromecast
If your Sonos speaker is connected to a TV with Chromecast, you also don’t need the Sonos app.
See, Chromecast allows you to stream your SoundCloud music wirelessly to a TV.
So, simply connect your smartphone or tablet to the Chromecast device, and you’re done.
Here’s how to do it on an Android phone:
- Open the SoundCloud app.
- Play a song.
- Select the Cast icon in the upper right corner (a rectangular TV screen with a WiFi signal).
- Choose the Chromecast.
And you’re done.

Bonus #2: Use Bluetooth or an audio cable
Bluetooth
There are 2 Sonos speakers that have Bluetooth:
- Sonos Move.
- Sonos Roam.
This feature lets you connect your device and Sonos speaker via Bluetooth…
Letting you also stream SoundCloud audio from your device to your Sonos speaker.
But before you start, make sure that Bluetooth is activated on your smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Then follow these steps to pair with the Sonos Move speaker:
- Press the Bluetooth button at the back of the speaker (The LED on top will turn blue).
- Push and hold the Bluetooth button to activate pairing mode (The LED will flash blue).
- Go to the Bluetooth settings from your device and select Move from the list to connect.
And here’s how it’s done on a Sonos Roam speaker:
- Press and hold the power button at the back of the Roam for 2 seconds (LED will start flashing blue).
- Go to the BlueTooth settings from your device and select Roam from the list to connect.
- When successfully paired, the LED will change to solid blue.
Note: When your device and speakers are connected via Bluetooth, certain Sonos features are unavailable:
- Grouping.
- Stereo pairing.
- Voice assistants.
Audio cable
There are some Sonos models with line-in ports, like the:
- Port.
- Five.
- Amp.
With a line-in port, you can simply connect a device with an audio cable.

You can do these 6 easy steps:
- Connect the smartphone to the Sonos Five with a 3.5mm audio cable.
- Open the SoundCloud app on your smartphone and start playing music.
- Open the Sonos app.
- Go to the Browse tab.
- Select Line-in.
- Tap the source device (the smartphone) to start playing music through Sonos.
