You can’t change Alexa’s voice to Jarvis, but you can let her say quotes, facts, or news about the latter. However, you can add different celebrity voices for your AI. Amazon has voice packs for Samuel L. Jackson, Shaquille O’Neal, and Melissa McCarthy.
How to change Alexa voice? 7 steps
Unfortunately, you can’t change Alexa’s voice to Jarvis.
The voice pack simply isn’t available.
Bummer!
However, keep an eye on Amazon’s website because they occasionally add new voices.

Now, to actually change your Echo’s smart assistant’s voice, you can do that in 2 easy ways.
The 1st way is simply by saying: “Alexa, change your voice.”
While the 2nd way is through the Amazon Alexa app (Android/iOS) with these 7 steps:
- Open the Alexa app.
- Select Devices.
- Choose All Devices.
- Tap on the device you want to change the voice of.
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll down to Alexa’s Voice.
- Choose the voice that you want.

And at the time of writing, Amazon offers voice packs from Shaquille O’Neal and Melissa McCarthy.

- Say the following: “Alexa, introduce me to Shaquille O’Neal.”
- Confirm your purchase with Alexa.
- Enable or disable explicit content.

Alexa voice won’t change: Troubleshooting
Check for updates
If you can’t change Alexa’s voice or find that option in the app, there are a few ways to fix that.
1st, make sure the Alexa app is up-to-date.
See, Amazon releases new versions of the platform to fix bugs like these.
Now, you can update the Alexa app both manually and through voice commands.
Here’s how to do the latter:
Say: “Alexa, check for software updates.”
And here’s how to do it manually for Android devices:
- Go to the Google Play Store.
- Select your Account profile (top right corner).
- Go to Available updates.
- See if there’s an update for the Alexa app or choose Update all.
And for iOS devices:
- Go to the Apple Appstore.
- Select your Profile icon (top of the screen).
- Look for pending updates on the Alexa app or tap on Update all.
Then try again.
Restart your Echo device
If the app is up-to-date and it still doesn’t allow you to change Alexa’s voice…
You can simply restart your Echo device.
No worries, you won’t lose any data.
Most of the time, this solves the issue.

- Unplug the Echo device from the power outlet.
- Wait for a minute.
- Replug it back in.

Change Alexa’s wake word
If you’re tired of constantly saying “Alexa”…

See, Alexa is the default Wake word. Meaning, it needs to be said to ‘wake up’ your AI.
But you can change that into:
- Echo.
- Ziggy.
- Amazon.
- Computer.
Do you want to try a new wake word for a while?
Well, to do that by voice, you can simply say:
“Alexa, change the wake word.”
And manually through the app with these 6 steps:
- Open the Alexa app.
- Select the Menu icon.
- Go to Settings.
- Choose Device Settings.
- Tap on the device you want to change the wake word for.
- Select your choice.
Once done, you can wake Alexa using your chosen word.
