3 steps to add apps to your Sharp (Aquos) TV

#1: Launch Google Play Store

Let’s start simply…

Go to the Apps section on your Sharp Aquos TV home screen. You should locate the apps section on the right part of your screen and above the “Play Music” section.

In your Apps section, tap Google Play Store. It should be right beside all your apps.

For example, most Sharp TVs will have pre-installed apps like YouTube or Netflix. Your Google Play Store will be in the same section as these apps.

After you’ve located Google Play Store, tap “OK” on your Sharp TV remote to launch Google Play Store.

#2: Search for the app in the search bar

After launching Google Play Store, you’ll see a search bar field at the top of your screen.

There, you can type the app you want to install in the search bar field. And then, a list of options related to the app will appear.

Lastly, select the app you want to install.

#3: Install and download the app

Let’s say the app you chose was Amazon Music. After clicking Amazon Music in the Google Play Store, click on “Install”.

From here on out, it’s all a matter of waiting for the app to finish downloading and installing.

You can repeat this process as much as you like for any app you want to install.

Just in case, here’s a short video showing how to add apps via Google Play Store on your Sharp TV:

5 steps to add apps to your Sharp (Aquos) TV using VEWD/AppsNOW

#1: Access the Apps section on your Sharp TV home screen

Some Sharp TVs will have a cloud-based app store pre-installed.

Now, take note…

This doesn’t apply to all Sharp TVs. Some will have a VEWD app store. Others will have an AppsNOW app store.

But here’s the good news. The process for adding apps through VEWD or AppsNOW is the same.

There’s just one more thing to mention.

VEWD and AppsNOW work differently from Google Play Store.

With Google Play Store, you can download apps and install each app directly on your Sharp Aquos TV.

For VEWD and AppsNOW, you can’t download these apps. Instead, the apps are already installed in VEWD and AppsNOW.

As a result, you can only launch/open the app through either VEWD or AppsNOW.

There are two ways to access VEWD or AppsNOW on your Sharp TV:

  1. Press the Apps button on your Sharp TV remote.
  2. Scroll to your Apps section on your Sharp TV home screen.

The Apps section is usually found above the “Games” section on your Sharp TV home screen.

#2: Select AppsNOW/VEWD

Select VEWD

You’ll find the AppsNOW or VEWD app in the same section where your other apps are located.

Tap AppsNOW or VEWD to launch the app store.

#3: Filter app categories

On your AppsNOW or VEWD app home screen, you’ll see a menu to your left. This menu will display the following items in order:

  1. Home.
  2. Videos.
  3. Apps.
  4. Games.
  5. Favorites.
  6. Search.
  7. Settings.

Use your Sharp TV remote to scroll down and select Apps.

In the Apps menu, you’ll see apps filtered by category in the top section.

Some of these categories include the following:

  • Kids.
  • Music.
  • Sports.
  • Lifestyle.
  • Internet TV.
  • Technology.
  • Movies + TV.
  • Nature & Travel.

Think of these categories on AppsNOW or VEWD as the same categories on your Netflix app.

When you open Netflix, you’ll see categories like…

  • “TV Horror”.
  • “Trending Now”.
  • “New Releases”.
  • “Western Movies”.
  • “Romantic Movies”.
  • “Award-Winning Films”.
  • “Inspiring Asian TV Dramas”.

Netflix will even add its own category, “Only on Netflix” to the platform.

VEWD and AppsNOW have categories that work the same way.

From here, select the filter you want and choose the app from there.

Here’s an example:

Let’s say you choose the Lifestyle category/filter. Then, you’ll see a list of apps under the Lifestyle category. Some of these might include:

  • TED.
  • Cook.
  • Gaiam.
  • Cover Showbiz.
  • Splash Entertainment.

#4: Choose the app

You can browse through as many categories and apps as you want. As mentioned earlier, it’s not possible to add the app to your Sharp TV.

You can only launch it from the VEWD or AppsNOW store. If you have plans to launch the app again in the future, simply add the app to your Favorites list.

Then, you can access your Favorites list in your VEWD menu.

#5: Launch the app on your Sharp TV

Once you’ve selected the app, tap the app you want to launch. From here, VEWD or AppsNOW will automatically launch the app on your Sharp TV.
